How to Fix Restore Point Creation Is Disabled by Your System Administrator Message
When you open "System Properties" and select the "System Protection" tab, the "Create" button may be grayed out and the following message is displayed:
As a result of this error message you're unable to create or configure System Restore point.
This happens if the "Turn off System Restore" policy is enabled in your system either using group policy or through registry edit. Use following steps to resolve this error message.
Resolve This Issue Using the Group Policy Editor
If your edition of Windows operating system includes the Group Policy Editor snap-in (Gpedit.msc) follow these steps:
1. Click Start Menu, type gpedit.msc, to open Group Policy Editor. The Group Policy Editor can also be opened by pressing
keys, type gpedit.msc, into Run dialog box and click OK button.
2. Navigate to following branch:
3. Double click Turn off System Restore and set it to "Not Configured".
Resolve This Issue Using the Registry Editor
You can enable System Restore tool from Registry Editor, follow these steps:
1. Click Start Menu, type regedit, to open Registry Editor. Registry Editor can also be opened by pressing keys, type regedit, into Run dialog box and click OK button.
2. Navigate to following registry key:
3. In the right-pane delete the value named DisableSR.
4. Exit the Registry Editor and you are done.
The registry file attached to this tutorial will automatically enable the System Restore tool.
