How Set Data Limit for Wi-Fi and Ethernet in Windows 10
Starting with Windows 10 build 17063, you can set data limits and apply background data restrictions to Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections, in addition to cellular connections. An additional option was added to the Data usage page of the Settings page. This is useful when you are using a PC with cellular connectivity or a metered ethernet network connection. Using it, you can adjust your data usage to your budget and needs.
To set data limit for Wi-Fi and Ethernet, do the following.
1. Press Window + I keys to open Settings app.
2. Click Network & Internet.
3. Click the Data Usage category on the left.
4. On the right, select the desired connection under Show settings for.
5. Click on the Set limit button under Data limit.
7. A flyout appears with options for Limit type, Reset date, Data limit, and Unit (as MB or GB). For instance, you can set the Reset date to match your monthly billing cycle.
8. Configure the options as above and click Save button.
The improved data usage page will now show you total data consumed, the balance data left, and the days left until your next reset date. If you want to see your data usage at a glance just right-click on the Data usage tab in Settings and pin it to the Start menu as an always accessible live tile.
Those of you not enrolled in the Windows Insiders Fast Ring program will just have to wait until the update is finalized in March 2018.
