Viewing iphone 4 pictures on my HDTV

I have many pictures from my vacation on my iphone 4. I have purchased the Apple 30 pin Digital TV adapter to connect the iphone to the tv. I made all the appropriate connections, turned on the tv and the iphone, tuned the tv to the proper input for HDMI and selected the photos on the iphone. The result is nothing. What do I have to do to be able to see the photos? Does anyone have suggestions for what prevents the photos from being seen? I would appreciate any help.

you will find that some TVs have a "Media" source, to which you can switch to so that you can access this functionality. This is one of the only workarounds.
