Just got a used Asus PC from a co-worker to give to my son. He wasn't sure if there was a virus on it or not. After removing a lot of software and other "questionable" files, then running disk cleanup and defrag, we hooked it up to our network (wired). The PC's network is registering that it is connected to local and internet. However, when trying to open IE, it says it is not connected to the internet and Windows gives options to try to solve the problem. If you run the "Find the problem", it says there is no problem.
Once in awhile, it says ieframe.dll in the address line of the IE page that does not load.
We copied Google Chrome onto a CD to try that and it won't even run and creates a debug file that says:
[0825/235217:ERROR:client_util.cc(384)] Could not get Chrome DLL version.
[0825/235217:ERROR:client_util.cc(442)] Could not find exported function
RelaunchChromeBrowserWithNewCommandLineIfNeeded
We are at a loss as to the next step. Help!
