Im not sure how to really work myself around this site but i just got rid of ThinkPoint off my computer thank you SO much btw!
But! now my icons on my desktop and even when i click the start button wont let me click on anything! There are things that i need for school on my desktop to get to for some of my classes tomorrow. Its really stressing me out all of my icons EVERYWHERE look like a little papers with the top right corner bent with a little picture in the middle of a little window with three icons on them and everytime i try to click on one it says,

"C\Users\{MYNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar\HPAdvisor.Ink is not valid Win32 application."

So i press OK.
And it tells me,
"Can't open this item;"
"It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. Do you want to remove this item?"
and of course i press no because i dont want to remove it, it's obviously important lol.
But how can i/you/we fix it i need help!

This was all sunday night.
Someone suggested that i download a few things but my computer wont let me click on ANY icons on my computer at all theres a few things that ive worked around to be able to get to but there are other things that i cant get to like microsoft word or power point or the internet for that matter so if i was able to download it i wouldnt be able to retrieve it afterwards to actually use it.
:/ help pleeeease?
Im not sure what to do.

Hello.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

No they wont get deleted, this isn't a format, it's a repair.

Select the repair option, it will ask what OS you want to repair, so select the one we are working one.

Next it will ask how to repair it, one option will be "Command Prompt", select that option.

In the command prompt, type in "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" without the quote marks, notice a space between the e and /

Hit enter, when it says "Operation successful", reboot the machine then re-run MBRCheck and post the new log.

I wouldnt know how to do that, Every single thing on my computer is like that, the only way i can get to the Internet is by right clicking and then choosing one of the past sites on my history.
And for example music/picture files or documents i need daily for school. I have to access by clicking on the start menu and then pressing Documents on the right side of the start menu bar. I cant use Microsoft Office Word iTunes Internet Explorer or Windows Media Player at all with out doing this.
And if its something else like ooVoo skype yahoo messenger or any of the security protections i have that are only on my desktop i cant access them. At all.

Hello.
No problem, to create a new shortcut, try this.

Navigate to this folder: C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone

Inside is Skype.exe, right click > Send to > "Desktop (create shortcut)

A new Skype shortcut should appear on your Desktop, see if you can open it just as a test.

Hmm.

Download Dr.Web CureIt to the desktop:
ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/cureit.exe

  • Double-click the launch.exe or cureit.exe file and Allow to run the express scan
  • This will scan the files currently running in memory and when something is found, click the yes button when it asks you if you want to cure it. This is only a short scan.
  • Once the short scan has finished, just let it cure whatever it finds...
o Now, go to Settings >> Change Settings
o Go to Actions tab >> under Objects section, change the settings to below
    Infected objects - Cure
    Incurable objects - Report
    Suspicious objects - Report
o Don't change any other settings
  • Start the scan again. This time, choose Complete Scan
  • Click the green arrow button at the right, and the scan will start.
  • After the scan finished, click Select all
  • Click on Cure and choose Report incurable (means take no actions.. Don't "move", or "rename" or "delete")
  • When the scan has finished, in the menu, click File and choose Save report list
  • Save the report to your Desktop. The report will be called DrWeb.csv
  • Post DrWeb.csv in your next reply (Open it as Notepad).. Do NOT reboot the computer yet..

Hello.
Okay doesn't look too bad, WildTangent isn't malicious.

Not too sure what the others are, container sounds like a zip file maybe.

Hello.
Please download this.
http://www.winhelponline.com/fileasso/lnkfix_vista.zip

Extract the .reg file inside, double click it to run it and select yes to the registry merge prompt, then reboot normally.

Are you Desktop icons any better now?
