I've been infected by the Digital protection virus, despite having Mcafee installed. So I'm about to attempt to remove it using the instructions on GeekPolice.
However, I cannot find any mention of this virus on Mcafee's website. Surely they must have heard of it and must have some tools that they think would get rid of it??

Hello.

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

  • Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  • Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  • It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  • You may need to use two posts to get it all.

Thanks - but as I tried to say, i have a potential solution already obtained from GeekPolice. (I'll try OTL.exe if that fails!).
What I was wondering is why McAfee does not seem to recognise the Digital Protection virus!!

Not every AV is perfect, sometimes these things sneak by if you don't keep the AV upto date.

I have kept it uptodate. But maybe as you say "that's life". You can close this, thx.
