How to get my A+ Certification on my Own

I want to know how I become a "computer nerd"

as in, good enough to get my A+ without having to go to school for it.

Right now I'm reading The Complete Idiot's Guide to Computer Basics (which will basically teach me how to be a better End User) But, I'd like it if somone told me how to do it step-by-step. In general or specific it doesnt matter ^_^ I'm just curious as to how I'd go about doing it.

You will definitely need to get an A+ textbook to study.

Can you reccomend a specific textbook to me?

I don't know any, as I have never taken that course before.
