I hope I've got this post in the right section!
My grandmother phoned me last week complaining that her computer wasn't working again. She had recently taken it in and was told it was full of viruses and that it was fixed. After about a week, it wouldn't boot past the windows start screen. We talked and decided that I would reinstall the operating system as she didn't have anything of importance saved on her computer.
Installed Windows XP and the required drivers. Got email and internet back up for her.
Installed XP service pack 2, rebooted, no problem.
Went on to install service pack 3 and it said the install was completed and to reboot the system.
Now it wont boot past the first black screen, nor will it let me into the the boot menu via F12.
What did I do? I feel like I've really messed things up, when I was just trying to save her another trip to the computer store.
Hope somebody can help!
Thanks, elluna
