Usage of IT in the movie industry

I'm doing a school project which requires me to post on a forum and get feedbacks from the members. I need some comments on how the usage of IT influences or affects the movie industry.

Movies are now filled with cgi, of which they can produce impossible man-made scenarios like in the movie; Avatar.

How about usage of social media to market the movies.
