wuauclt file is infected

this morning my computer became infected with a virus that displays itsself like an antivirus software.. ive tried to download otl & iceword & avg but nothing works.. no windows for interent explorer will work please someone help me i dont know what to do or how to get rid of the virus.. i did download icesword & tried to open the icesword exe but a box pops up im not sure what all it saus all i can see is initial because another window pops up & keeps saying application cannot be executed the file wuauclt file is infected do you want to activate your antivirus now.. please can someone help me?

Download OTL by OldTimer to your Desktop.

• Close all windows and double click OTL.exe
  
• Click Run Scan and let the program run uninterrupted
  
• It will produce two logs for you, one will pop up - OTL.txt, the other will be saved on your Desktop - Extras.txt. Post both logs in this thread.
  
• You may need to use two posts to get it all.

• Return to OTL, right click in the "Custom Scans/Fixes" window (under the light green bar) and choose Paste.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

• Click Start >> Control Panel.
  
• Under the Programs click Uninstall a Program
  
• Highlight the following:
  
  Ask Toolbar
  Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1
  LimeWire 5.2.13
  
  
• Click on the Uninstall/Change button at the top.
  

To remove all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created do the following:
Double click OTL.exe.

• Click the CleanUp! button.
  
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
  
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
  
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes.
  

How is the machine running now?

the pop ups & such stopped but now internet explorer wotn work at all & yahoo & windows live messenger will neither work.. would this have had something to do with the error or is there something els up with it, they all worked before hand

Updating Java:

• Download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 18.
  
• Click the "Download JRE" button to the right.
  
• In the Window that opens, select your platform, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  
• Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u18-windows-i586.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.
  

Try the programs now, do any of them work now?

no none of the programs work still.. could it be something to do with proxys, if so im an idiot & dont understand those either. really sorry for any inconvenience.. thing is myspace im works but windows & yahoo messenger dont which i dont get why unless they different somehow.. some programs on firefox will not work either, everything worked fine before the whole wuauclt file is infected problem

on interenet explorer i just keep getting Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage, when i click diagnose the problem it says "the configured proxy server is not responding".. i havent changed anything , i dont even know what a proxy is

with windows messenger i get error code 80048820 .. it says failed to complete this could be due to improper proxy or firewall settings.

i even tried using chrome but i get Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): Unknown error.

i dont know if maybe this information can help or not but its pretty much everything i saw

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

In Internet Explorer

1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
   

In Firefox

1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
   
2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.
   

Any luck now?
