Virus?

Hello! I think I may have a virus or some sort of malware going on with my computer. For the past few weeks, I have not been able to get online during the day. I thought the server was just busy. However, tonight, I was on ebay, trying to change some information, and I was not able to log back into my ebay account. Then, all of a sudden, I ma taken to this page stating that my computer is infected with (trojan) viruses, and I must download protection immediately, etc. I have McAfee, and ran a quick scan, but it did not pick up on anything. I completely shut down my computer when I saw this, and my cousin referred me to your site. Below, please find the "hijackthis" log.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

  2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

  5. Close any open browsers.
  6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

How is the machine running now?

Hello! First, I would like to thank you, again, for helping me with my computer problems. For the most part, things are working well; however, I am still having problems fully connecting to the internet. I do connect via DSL; however, my wireless connection continues to read as "excellent." During the day, it is impossible to get online. I get an error message stating that either the server is busy or there is something wrong with my connection, etc. At times, at night, I have the same problems. Sometimes I am able to get to my home page, but it just does not connect fully. This has been going on since the week before Christmas. Could it be from the malware I just rid of? I saw a proxy from your logs, so make sure the proxy is removed if not set by you/system administrator.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

In Internet Explorer

1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
   

In Firefox

1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
   
2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.
