Hello...I am totally new here. A few days ago I woke up to the SECURITY ALERT virus..I followed Youtube video and deleted it. Then later in the day everything I googled went to 302 moved. I have been trying to find a resolution to this and finally saw another similar post to this one on your site yesterday. It did say not to copy anything directed to someone else. I did update my microsoft , java and the other thing you asked for...Here is my HIJACK this file...
Please help me and direct me to a way of ridding this
I look forward to your reply
Please note I am not totally computer illiterate...but I am no geek either...but I can usually follow instructions. Thank you ahead of time

Don't worry about that, I already know why and know how to fix it, but I'm worried there's more malware hiding as MBAM found the Koobface worm. Were gonna remove that first, no point fixing the Google hijack first if the malware is just gonna replace the hijack again.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: HERE

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hello.

I see that you are running Limewire.
P2P(Peer to peer) applications are designed to help you easily share and distribute files between you and a group of people. But they can also be used to distribute malware, and thus are not considered safe.
The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs.

    Java(TM) 6 Update 15
    LimeWire 5.0.11

You are also running two antivirus', I see from the uninstall list you have Norton/Symantec installed, along with AVG. This is a bad idea as they can conflict and cause more problems. I would recommend that you remove Norton to avoid conflict and other future problems.

Completely Uninstall Norton software using:

Instructions

  1. Please download and save SymNRT.exe to your desktop.
  2. Close all programs and double click on the tool.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. Restart the computer if asked.
  5. Then delete the SymNRT.exe tool from your desktop.
  6. Open the Program Files folder on your local disk ( normally C: )
  7. Find and delete the following folders (if present):

    • Norton AntiVirus
    • Norton Internet Security
    • Norton SystemWorks
    • Norton Personal Firewall

Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 17.
  • Select the first option where it says "This special release provides a few key fixes.".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • In the Window that opens, select your platform and language, check the "agree" box, and click Continue.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u17-windows-i586.exe that you downloaded to install the newest version.

How is the machine running now?

Delete avenger, just right click and hit delete.

Keep Adaware and MBAM for now, MBAM has better detection ratings though.
