1 week old computer, running slow, previously had Virut on my computer

I lost my old computer to Virut :-( purchased a new one a week ago and it is already running very slowly. As per your instructions, i had backed up all my documents to a DVD disc, and had the disc inserted into my new computer when I received that one of the htm files had virut in it. I immediately ejected the disc, ran antivirus and MBAM. They both came back clean, but computer is running super slow. Help!

As you probably figured, Virut is sneaky like that. Did you open that htm file in your browser? if not, you might be okay. Virut modifies html files to inject an iframe code to a malicious website.

When it comes to a file infecter, my advise is to drop everything and save nothing, then format.

Slowness is likely to Mcafee's fault, uninstall Mcafee, let me know if the machine feels any faster.
