DVD Drivers Corrupt?

I have a Latitude D600 laptop that has the programs to play CD/DVD's but it will not play or burn. Programs that I have are DivX movies, Windows Media and AVS4U. What programs do I need to remove. I would just like to use one like Windows Media or anyone you suggest. I am wondering how to correct this problem. Please help. Thank you!

Please try using VLC to play the DVD.

Are you able to eject your drive using a software? If no, your dvd drivers might be corrupted.
