Anti Virus Pro type 820

Hi a newbie here,
I have been watching nekobakagaijin : Antivirus Pro : reviewed many threads. I have the same problem with my daughters computer - she has antivirus pro and i cant get the computer to do anything. It wont allow us to go online, access any other program or upload from a disc (on to which I had downloaded malwarebytes etc) plus the switch to porn sites which horrified her!!. I am hoping you will find the solution for nekobakagaijin. Should I do the same? Fingers crossed you can sort this....

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

• Double click and run the installer.
  
• It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  
• After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  
• Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.
  

When I turned on my daughters computer I saw that I could quickly connect to the Net so I downloaded Hijack and malwarebytes. Antivirus Pro had meantime vanished!!Including the little shield icon and all the blocking messages. How come? Does it selfdestruct after 4 days or something? So I then ran Hijack which didn't show anything and ran malwarebytes which showed 360 odd infections which included fake alerts, adware from web search and the odd trojan. Deleted all those amd restarted and it seems to be fine. I have kept the logs in case AVP reappears. Whilst delighted it does seem strange that it disappeared before I did anything!!

sorry here it is. Had to brn it to disk to get it on my computer to send to you. ( Hope this has not now infected my computer) daughters computer is now virtually unusable - once AVP kicks in it slows down to a snails pace. Ran the hijack again just after start up before AVP started up but AVp then stopped the file saving at the very beginning SO I couldn't send you that one but this is the one I did earlier. Fingers crossed!

Here is the log of the latest hijack run about 15 mins ago. I had previously fixed the 3 01host Anitvirusprof09 that I spotted which seemed to help get to this stage. ( I know that i wasn't supposed to without your permission but it seemed sensible and freed up the computer a little). Computer is running hideously slowly (10 mins to start) and won't connect to internet - just hangs.

So far so good! Daughters computer is wrking much better now and I can access internet from her computer and posting log from there!! ( huge sigh of relief and grateful thanks)
DDS did say that I had to disable onboard script blocking before running - I didn't know what that meant so ran it anyway. The attach log said I had to zip and attch it to post - didn't know how to do that either so I will copy and paste in another post as you suggested.

Hi Belahzur,
What a day of intense frustration with this thing. Computer was running at a snails pace again. Couldnt get on the net - so downloaded combofix on my laptop and put it onto a disc. Again wouldnt load so I ran full scan malware bytes again (2.5 hours)with AVG disabled and found 14 infections ( log below) . Also ran hijack this (log attached). Tried combofix again and realised that it was running but very very slowly with no screen to say anything. Any screensaver took 20 mins to power up. It took an hour to get to the blue screen and then rebooted and a further 10 mins to to return to the blue sreen and then another 25 mins to do the scan ( log attached). Computer must have been a mess.
Then wowee it is running fast again.
BUT>>>> tried to enable AVG again but there was no icon . Windows security came on warning about no antivirus and suggesting to down laod a program but it showed the AVPRO shield icon !!!!! ( Is there no end to this thing??)
So I quickly went on line and downloaded AVG 9.0 free trial 30 days for their internet security package - is there any other anti virus program you recommend? or will that do?

How is the machine now?

Brilliantly better! Daughter is a little nervous of using it again and we have had a hectic weekend so not much testing but so far so good.
Already AVG 9.0 has flagged up an attack from AV Pro again which it "healed". Only her machine seems to be targetted ( we ahve 4 in the house) and she was on Face Book that was all. She has been put off face book now. I will probably pay to have the full internet security on her machine.

as I have said before - THANKS a million times!!! I feel so relieved and more secure that you guys are out there able to solve these problems.

W32/Koobface.worm spreads via Facebook and MySpace. Current variants only target either Facebook or MySpace specifically.

Your problem wasn't Koobface, but you get my point, this stuff can spread so easily.

We need to make a new restore point.

To turn off System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (or the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box), and then click OK.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to the turn off System Restore.

Now we need to make a new restore point.
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (To turn on System Restore), and then click OK.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers.

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. My question is should I install ALL those antispy and virus programs?? Wont they interfere with each other?
I did the restore sytem point - had automatic update anyway, have installed firefox. Will continue after your answer.
