DVD drive doesn't work and my audio doesn't work on laptop

My DVD/cd player won't work when I put in a disc. I tried updating the driver for it and still doesn't work. I believe the code was "code 31"
also my audio device doesn't work. I also tried to update the driver and still doesn't work. I click on the speaker icon and it says "no audio device is installed". I tried to add new hardware so it can be installed but then when I go through wit it all I get code 10. ( which it says device may not work properly or something like that. SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME FIX THIS PROBLEM!!
