Recently, I downloaded a particular .exe file. When I tried to launch it on windows xp, it does not show signs of any launching but disappears after a while. This has been so with my computer running vista. I did not run as administrator in both cases. Also, there were no pop-ups from my antivirus, avast, to indicate that a virus was detected. so this eliminates the possibility of the antivirus deleting it. When I tried to search for that file in my system again, I could not find it already. I wish to find out the files that it modified and reverse the changes besides doing a system restore. Also, I would like to know why the .exe file disappeared. Could someone please help me? Thanks.
