reƖ Network Connection constantly "Acquiring network address"

I had a problem with Antivirus System PRO (malware) a couple days ago that I tried to fix using a solution I found here at Geekpolice.net

Unfortunately, after rebooting my computer I have been unable to get my reƖ internet connection working.

Instead of giving me a list of reƖ networks to choose from, I was given an error message that read, "Windows cannot configure this reƖ connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this reƖ connection, use that software. If you want Windows to configure this reƖ connection, start the reƖ Zero Configuration (WZC) service."

Like my issue with Antivirus System PRO, this seemed to be a pretty basic problem that many people had gotten help for on various web forums, so I was able to figure out how to turn on the reƖ Zero Configuration service, but I still have not been able to connect to the internet.

For the past 24 hours (since I manually started the WZC), my reƖ Network Connection has been continuously, and unsuccessfully, "acquiring network address," seemingly for my home network, but when I open the "View Available reƖ Network" window, I'm still getting the original "Windows cannot configure this reƖ connection. . ." error message.

Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Open CMD, Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log

Restart your PC.

If it doesn't work, download Winsock XP Fix from here, save it to your Desktop.

Double click on the exe on your Desktop.
Press the "Fix" button, then restart again.

See if you can connect now.
