3g mobile broadband dongles?

i have a 3g dongle using the network "3", but recently it keeps d/c like every 5-10 mins, i have tried 2 other dongles on my pc and they do the same thing? could this be a setting on my or are all the other dongles i used faulty aswell? does anyone know about these things? your help would be greatly appreciated!

my experience is pretty limited with these, but i have fixed a few in the past.

has it just started happening recently?

have you installed any other software?

are you recieving a good signal?

yes my signal is pretty strong

how do i go about updating my drivers?

just to add i find when im streaming videos or something of that nature its less likely to cut out, i have tried 3 other dongles on my pc and they all do the same, i have swapped sim cards but still cant get to the bottom of it and its really annoying because it seems to be cutting out more often now....

by other software i mean, did you install/uninstall any software around the time this started happening?

to rule out any conflict between the software.

as for the drivers, if you could reply with the make & model of the dongle i will find a link for you to the latest drivers.

i just deleted the old "3 modem" sofware i was using and reinstalled the current "3 modem" and it seems to be working ok, its strange as it worked for so long with both softwares installed, it seems to be running alot faster now as it stays on "hspda" and hasnt cut out for about 2 hours which is the longest in a very very long time! i feel pretty stupid for paying 30 pounds for a new dongle now...well atleast i got a spare just incase.....anyway thanks so much for your help dude!

think i spoke abit soon....was fine all last night and this morning but is right back to square one

the dongle is a huawei e156g and the network is "3"

oh and i have found out its the network thats disconnecting not the usb, i have looked through so many forums and cant seem to find anything helpful....

I have had similar problems with the same dongle. Basically the drivers on the dongle do not update when you install hardware or any new program on to your computer.
I had to resort to using the older style interface which solved the problem because when I did update to the newer interface the old problem came back.
You must go to add/remove programmes and remove both the modem AND the dongle from your system every time you plug into a network, or add a new piece of hardware.
