Windows Protection Suite

Hello,

I was able to delete the primary folder with the Windows Protection Suite Software and was able to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Software, however I cannot run it. When I click on the icon, I get the hourglass for a second or 2 and then it goes out.

Also, I cannot run the command prompt, start > run > cmd
Or the task manager via Ctrl-Alt-Delete or start > run > taskmgr

In both cases, I get the hourglass for a second or so and then back to the original screen.

I tried to run sysinternals/Microsoft autoruns to disable the Windows Protection Suite executable and you'll probably see reference to the software in the Hijack-This log that follows

I'm not sure what to do next to continue to clean my Laptop / IBM Thinkpad T41
I'd like to run Malwarebytes and am not sure why it won't?

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:

Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.
