Yesterday, i had been on the website css3.info , when i was first warned by avast about a virus so i immediately turned off the browser. However, since then when i restarted my computer i have been getting the following.
For the first time, just before you are asked for the account password of your system i got this message.

logonui.exe - application error
the instruction at "0x005f0289" referenced memory at "0x005f0289" . The memory could not be "written: Click on OK to terminate the program, CLick on cancel to debug the program

Then after cancelling for almost 7-8 times, it let me enter the password.

Once i got in....then this is the error message i get >>
Virus Issue 110
This is after i see my desktop background without anything else.
After this i managed to open the task manager & through it run the avast antivirus, it deleted a few files which were infected. However, i keep getting that error message in the picture.

Even after i restart, it keeps repeating the whole procedure the only difference being now i am able to see more on the desktop, the normal things which i could open. But that error image is still there.
Hijack this Log

I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks for the quick response.
I am unable to download the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Any other link to that ?

Edit: I was able to download it from download.cnet.com However, it does not let it update via the software.
The site was not opening earlier through the browser, when i used a anonymouse.org to open the site, it opened up.

Edit2: Without the Malwarebytes, getting updated. I ran the scan. here is the Log of what i get.

As for that warning, it's relates to a polymorphic file infecter, if you have this infection, there maybe nothing we can do other than format the machine.

Hello.

  • Download combofix from here
    Link 1
    Link 2

    1. If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

    * Tools->Options->Main tab
    * Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

    2. During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

    Virus Issue CF_download_FF

    Virus Issue CF_download_rename

    3. It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
    4. Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
    5. Close any open browsers.
    6. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • We need to disable your local AV (Anti-virus) before running Combofix.
  • See HERE for how to disable your AV.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe.
  • Follow the prompts. NOTE:
  • ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.
***It's strongly recommended to have the Recovery Console installed before doing any malware removal.***

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will automatically proceed with its scan.

  • The Recovery Console provides a recovery/repair mode should a problem occur during a Combofix run.

    Virus Issue Rcauto10

  • Allow ComboFix to download the Recovery Console.
  • Accept the End-User License Agreement.
  • The Recovery Console will be installed.
  • You will then get this next prompt that asks if you want to continue the malware scan, select yes

    Virus Issue Whatne10

  • Allow combofix to run
  • Post C:\combofix.txt back here.

    Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Damn, I'd say we just hit the end of the road.

I'm afraid I have bad news.

Your system is infected with a polymorphic file infector called Virut. Virut is capable of infecting all the machine's executable files (.exe) and screensaver files (.scr). However, the problem is that the virus has a number of bugs in its code, and as a result, it may misinfect a proportion of executable files and therefore, the files are corrupted beyond repair. As of now, security experts suggest that a format and clean install, or destructive recovery if you have an OEM recovery partition, is the best way to clean the infection and it is the best and safest way to return the machine to its normal working state.

Backup all your documents and important items (personal data, work documents, etc) only. DO NOT backup any executable files (softwares) and screensavers (*.scr). It attempts to infect any accessed .exe or .scr files by appending itself to the executable.

Also, avoid backing up compressed files (zip/cab/rar) files that have .exe or .scr files inside them. Virut can penetrate and infect .exe files inside compressed files too.

Recent variants also modify htm, html, asp and php files.

Do not back up to another machine, as it may become compromised. Burn to DVD/CD, or to an external drive which has nothing else on it, and which you can format should it happen to become infected from the backups.

I have data backed up on DVD's as off now with some exe files together with other documents. So in the future it can infect when i use this DVD. Or it can be cleaned by an anti virus that time?
Or you would suggest me to remake the DVD's which have copies of exe files & normal documents combined?

Hello.
I don't know if your documents can be trusted either, latest version of Virut can infects mp3 files/doc files/txt files, see here:

What would you suggest me, since those documents are important i can't afford to lose them.

What i can think of now, is to make other DVD's splitting the normal documents from the exe files or folders. Once that is done, basically i will have two copies one split up & one combined.

So once i format & have a antivirus installed, i would try out each of the dvd's one by one to check out if the virus detects it.
But i would like to know if there is any antivirus which could atleast detect it, so that i could scrap it then after testing.

If you have any other suggestion please let me know.

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) Antivir PersonalEditionClassic
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Avira is good at detecting Virut. Smile...

After formatting, you'll need to scan each file one by one to make sure they are ok.

Also, seperating the docs from the exe's is a good idea. Smile...
