I'm afraid I was so stupid as to download a crack program online without anti-virus protection. Before I knew it, the virus had injected itself into my system32 folder. Strange icons linking to pornography sites started appearing on my desktop so I knew something was wrong. I ran Ad-Aware and deleted everything that it found. Then a fake virus removal program started popping up every so often (Security something). I -think- I deleted it correctly, since I removed it from the software list and even found it in program files and deleted it. Nevertheless, when my ad-aware recommended me to restart my PC for security reasons, I now have a different problem: My desktop won't load.
Whenever I boot my PC, just before I have to type in my username and password, I get a blue screen which scans my drivers quickly and then tells me everything is fine. Then I can type in my username/password, and I see my background appear. I then hear the opening music, but then nothing happens. Shortly after that, I get a message stating that for security reasons the 'startup-something' has been blocked. I tried booting up my PC from a Norton Antivirus CD, but it can't find anything in the scan.
I hope this wasn't too vague, thanks in advance.
