hi. i can't get rid of the "windows antivirus pro" virus. it showed up on my computer yesterday, and i'm running in safe mode right now. i've tried several different ways to remove it, but it's blocking me from opening any programs or downloads. whenever i've tried to download anything to remove it, it lets me select where i want to save and then downloads the program...but then it disappears.

can you please help me?

jness80537 & Trisha - If you need help, please open your own topic.

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

  • Double click and run the installer.
  • It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  • After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  • Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.

that's part of the problem....it says it's "downloading" and asks you to save it, then it disappears. i've tried downloading all sorts of different things, but it won't let me. is there a way to manually remove it?

Nope.
Can you download the tools via another machine and then carry them across from a USB stick?

so i was able to get malwarebytes downloaded via a separate computer, and then moved it to my computer on a jump drive. i ran malwarebytes, it said it removed lots of infected files. then i downloaded mcafee antivirus to protect against any further viruses. the next day, i woke up to find windows police pro is now on my computer.

so i'm back in safe mode. i tried running malwarebytes again and it won't let me do anything. any advice?
