My computer is infected with system security 2009. I have looked at the posting guidelines but system security is not letting me get on the Internet, so I cannot download any suggested software. The only reason I can post this is because I'm using my iPod touch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello,

You could use another media to transfer the files over to your infected PC, perhaps you can your iPod touch.

A friend put malwarebites on a disc but renamed it "1" so that it would let us install it since it was not letting us install it when it was named malwarebites. Although this made it so we could install it, it will not run. We are unsure why. Would you have any idea?

How would I copy malwarebites onto my iPod?

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

Hello, you can use a CD or USB drive to put files into the infected computer, the files you need to put right now are HijackThis and Malwarebytes. Once you have them on the infected computer let me know.

I have installed both malwarebites and hijackthis. The background has also not shown up now but I'm not sure why. It's just a normal blue screen now. My internet does still not work though.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

You mean don't have permission to access the host file?

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

the popup exactly says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • Double click DDS.scr to run.
  • When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

In the process of trying to download that DDS thing, safari, the only browser that was working, stopped working. How big of a flashdrive should I use to transfer those files to my PC?

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

Yes please do so.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

Could I use the same flashdrive that I did to put malwarebites and hijack into my pc or is there a risk of transporting the virus from my pc to the computer I am going to download the DDS thing

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

You can use the same one.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

So I can use the same flashdrive that I used in the infected computer to transfer the dds thing from another computer to my infected computer

Trend Micro PC-cillin is not letting me run DDS, should I uninstall it? Even if i shut it down in task manager, it pops back up.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

Yes, temporarily uninstall if needed.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

My computer can't renew it's IP addressm which means i can get on the internet, which means PC-cillin can't configue (which it would normally do when I connect to the internet), which means every time I start to uninstall it, it tries to configure. And I can't uninstall a running program.

Damn.

Please do the following in Safe Mode with Networking: as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode with Networking" and press your Enter key.

Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message. If this occurs, instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key", tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.) Once in the start up menu, select "Safe Mode with Networking", then try running from safe mode then.

whenever i try to boot up in safe mode this blue screen comes up that says "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. check your hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer."

I tried uninstalling trend micro normally and it uninstalled. A friend came over and installed norton on my computer saying that it would take it off, but I ran a scan and it didn't even detect anything. I tried running the dds but the scan still did not start.

descriptionMy computer is infected with system security 2009 EmptyRe: My computer is infected with system security 2009

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. Goofy

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
I also recommand the following add-ons for Firefox, they will help keep you safe from malicious scripts or activeX exploits.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

To help you keep your software updated, please considering using this free software program that will check for program updates.
Update Checker

5) Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are Kerio, or
Outpost
A tutorial on understanding and using firewalls may be found here.

Please also read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place

If you would take a moment to fill out our feedback form, we would appreciate it.
The link can be found here.

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. Big Grin
