Left or right click won't work

On my HP laptop the the left click won't work or when you tap the mouse pad, but the right click works sometimes. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you.

You may have disabled the touch pad. There should be a button near the touch pad usually at the top, make sure the light is blue, not orange.

I figured it out, I downloaded the synaptics pointing device driver from the HP site and its working fine now. Thanks a lot for your advice, sorry to waste your time.
