I hab wireless connection on one computer and share other on the networks. I brought the wireless adopter from the ISP. They set everything for me. Its run smooth for few months. But now from the few days my connection is randomly slow. I suspect that my ISP tracking me and my surfing. They limiting me not to visit more and DL more. I use XP2, IDM for DL. Now I wanna know how can I check My ISP gave me actual connection which I bought from them?

I doubt that if your ISP is tracking you, it will slow down your internet connection. You can test your internet speed at:

www.speedtest.net

while testing refrain from downloading things to get accurate results.

You say that you have a wireless connection, wireless connection can be slower than a direct connection using an ethernet cable. Perhaps your internet connection is being tapped by someone near you, this causes your bandwidth to be used up. So you might want to read up this post on wireless security:

http://geekpolice.net/networking-f8/wireless-security-t52.htm

In IE, click Tools... Windows Update and check to make sure you have all Critical Updates installed.

I'm sure you have antivirus software running, and that can cause a slowdown. Check the settings of your software and make sure it isn't doing any checking that it shouldn't, i.e., checking outgoing email.

You might want to try a different browser. IE is notorious for being insecure, and I'm sure that either you have to run a popup blocker, or those popups are driving you crazy! I strongly recommend Mozilla Firefox as a browser. It is free, fast, secure, and automatically blobks popup windows.

Malware can also cause your bandwidth to be eaten up. So you can get your HijackThis log analyzed in the Malware forum to check for lurking malware.

If everything appears to be fine, you might want to contact your ISP.

I would agree with the doc and bet that you havent secured your wireless network allowing someone in your vicinity to tap into your bandwidth!

To check this, go into the routers settings at the browser interface and check IP's that are connected to the DHCP client log......If you see an IP addy you dont recognize, or there are more addy's than computers on your own LAN, then you have discovered your problem.

Good Luck!

I really appreciate that Doc and Scanner,
Sorry Doc I can't make wireless security coz its operated by the ISPs. They don't let me to do that. They operate the wireless adopter. By the way I already read all ur article and there is good infos.

I always used firefox mozilla.
Yes I use KAV. All protection is on except Mail anti virus. Firewall is on only on server computer.

Scanner I don't hab router. There is a server. Through this internet share on the network.

Any other way to check, is someone using my getway?

I'm testing my connection on provided site. Let u know later.

I already talk to them and get suspicious about my connection.

ok I test its shows 12kbps on both down and up. my connection is 64kbps/512. is it ok. At the time when I purchase the connection they said 48kbps down and 16 up I think so. 🇳🇴 🇳🇴 🇳🇴

A 48kbps connection is actually very very slow. But strange... how do you recieve wireless connection if don't have a router? Or is your modem routered? A routered modem can also get security tweaks done you know...

Certain Microwaves and 2.4Ghz cordless phones can and do interfere with the connection, which would cause a slowdown. The location of the router could be bad. Try moving the router around. Make sure the antenna's are tight on the router and wirless cards. Make sure the router isn't located to closely to a cordless phone base (the charger/base part), or too close to a microwave.

Its like when you are on a cordless phone and you hear static. When the wireless internet connection gets static, it slows (or even cuts off) the connection. You may even show a good connection on the computer, but if the source of noise (microwave, etc) is stronger than the router, then the wireless card can't distinguish between the noise and the router's signal.

You might want to have a read here:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,14392-page,1/article.html

It is still doesn't seem to solve your problem, it is either due to Malware or your ISP.

We could get your HijackThis log analyzed to see if there is any malware lurking in your computer that is eating up your bandwidth.

Post it here:

http://geekpolice.net/malware-removal-f11/

Download a copy of HijackThis and save it to your desktop in a folder. Do a scan and save the HijackThis logfile. Do not remove anything. Post your log file there. Link to HijackThis:

Actually I purchased 64kbps. I don't know how much I received the connection thats why I wanna test the speed. The speed test show me 12 to 15kbps DL and UL at day time, at night its goes to 30kbps.
I don't know this device is a router or not let me put the name here; 'Breakthrough wireless range extender(Long range wireless client bridge/AP) this device with antenna.

There is no possibility that microwave and cordless can attack my connection. I make sure it.

I read that article and ping, its vast different(more that 2500ms) between my ISPs and other websites. While ping with geekpolice its always time out.

I already post a log file.( I make a post on this thread here before log file posted, I don't know what happen? may be deleted or may not be posted)

You can test your internet speed at:
www.speedtest.net

There is a similar speed test site called ScanmySpeed.com It helps to check internet speed accurately.
