removing system security

I know this has been talked to death but would love it if somebody a little bit more computer savvy could help me. Like everybody else, i to have the system security problem and do not know how to remove it. i ran spyware doctor but that did not help. i am sort of at my wits end. Anybody feel like giving me step by step help. I am running windows xp. Thanks in advance for any help. Brad

Please download the current version of HijackThis from HERE

• Double click and run the installer.
  
• It will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.exe
  
• After installing, you should get the user agreement, press accept and Hijack This will run.
  
• Select Do a system scan and save a log file. This will open a notepad file of everything Hijack This found, copy and paste it back here.
