Can u please help me with w32/sality.y ??

i need your help please with this annoying w32/sality.y virus tht is infecting all the exe s and even the antivirus, so i cant even scan cause some antivirus r detecting themselves as virus and my normal programs aswell. i cant seem to run safeboot as well

Sorry, but game over.

Sality is a file infecter that has spread across your entire system, so there is no way of fixing it.

Bad news for you.

You are dealing with a polymorphic file infecter known as Sality. Sad to say it's game over for this machine and my best advice would be format and reinstall, this is the fastest and especially the safest solution.

I suggest you start to backup all of your valuable data/documents/pictures/movies/songs/etc.. Do NOT backup any applications/installers and Do NOT backup any .exe/.scr type files.
Doing so may restore the infection because the above file types are infected with this Sality.

can i keep the installer's that i havnt even opened once, like one's i have just downloaded and very old one's (months before i got this stupid virus, and have positively not run them even once since i got the virus)?

Nope, ALL exe files are infected, you CANNOT backup any exe files otherwise you will restore the infection over and over again.

i think this virus copies to a flash as well?
how can i back up my non exe files without letting the virus transfer?
if i backup my data by burning a dvd, does tht have less a chance of coping the virus?
please advice
(also i have only 1 drive partition, so formating another drive and coping files there is not an option )

Photo files (jpg, gif, etc) are fine to backup.

You can use DVD method if you want to, it's safer that way.
