Conficker Worm Please Help.

After speaking to you on Sunday, I discovered that it is the Conficker worm; it will not allow me to download any files. What will I have to do to get this off our system.

PLEASE HELP!

It opens a window that starts gathering information, and then a request for me to install the disk for Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business

I'm not sure which variant of Conficker it is, but probably the latest if nothing will run.
I know how some of the old variant hide, but we need Combofix for that.

My last try would be a boot disc.

Please download this file: Avira Rescue Disc

1. Insert a black CD into your CD draw.
   
2. Double click the rescuecd.exe file on your Desktop.
   
3. Hit the "Burn CD" button and allow it to burn, it shouldn't take too long.
   
4. Next, reboot your computer, keep the CD inside the draw.
   
5. Your computer should boot from the CD and boot to the Avira rescue disc.

Your problem here isn't Conficker, it's Koobface. In case you lose internet access anytime during this fix, then this should repair it.

Remove the Proxy setting in Internet Explorer and/or in FireFox.

In Internet Explorer

1. Tools Menu -> Internet Options -> Connections Tab ->Lan Settings > uncheck "use a proxy server" or reconfigure the Proxy server again in case you have set it previously.
   

In Firefox

1. Tools Menu -> Options... -> Advanced Tab -> Network Tab -> "Settings" under Connection > Choose "No Proxy"
   
2. Click the apply button and restart that computer in normal mode.
   

Next,

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Thank your for identifying the virus
The Virus has removed my main internet toolbar and I can no longer access Internet Options; and when I try to access it from Control Panel, it will pop up but then go away immediately.
So I have no way of accessing Internet Options.
Additionally I can't open or download any .exe or zip files... what can I do

I can access the internet and after following your instructions I am now able to click on a google link and have it open. Prior to running the fix from Hijackthis; it would send me to bogus search engines. So thanks for that.

I am going to use an external computer and download the file to a disc; and then copy it onto my hard drive. Thanks so much and I will check back in once I have followed the remaining instructions.

You can do that, but I don't want to use MBAM right, because obviously the malware is blocking it, and because the malware in question is quite hard to take out without the use of this next tool.

Hi there...at my neice's but job internet will not allow us to download the first link...we can access the second but not link one!

I have a sysclean from Trend Micro that I saved and will copy to my hard drive...will this work?

Don't use school networks, they go crazy on false positives.

You gave me instructions to run Combofix but I can't access them, what should I do now? I do have sysclean loaded on the hard drive; however I can't run my computer in safe mode...should I still try to run sysclean?
