Virus will not let me download Hijackthis

I have a virus that has taken over Internet explorer. It won't let me download Firefox, and it won't allow me to open Hijackthis, so that I may send you my log.

What do I do? I tried to download Spybot, but once I did; I couldn't open the internet.
So I unstall it and and did a system restore.

Please help!

I can't find the download now; when I googled the link from the internet; it's not allowing to open a new window

I was able to open the link and click on the file. It says ("your download is starting") but nothing is happening beyond that.

What appears to be happening is that it is not allowing new to open new windows.
I have tried CTL and enter; it will apear to be opening but then closes immediately.

Lets see if this works.

• Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:

  Link 2
  
• Double click DDS.scr to run.
  
• When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  
• Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.
  

It won't allow me to open the first link and the second links comes up blank , I can see the address in the browser and the web icon (man dressed as a spy) but the entire page is WHITE...Blank!!

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
  
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  
• Select the second option, to run Windows in Safe Mode with Networking, then press Enter.
  
• Choose your usual account.
  

Can you download DDS now?

I will do that now...please stay with me if you can; I honestly APPRECIATE all of your TIME, PATIENCE AND HELP!!

Unfortunately it won't let me open in safe mode w/networking. It will only allow me to choose my last good configuration. I tried it a countless number of times.

This is bad, it has taken my internet toolbar away; so I went into Network and Internet settings and it won't allow me to open that feature.

Darn.

Please download SilentRunners from here:

Unzip it to the desktop and double-click on it. If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run. When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

Guess what...NO can do...I copied and pasted the link into my browser and it defaulted back to Google. I clicked on it directly and still nothing. I even copied a shortcut onto my desktop; and it defaults back to the last webpage that I was viewing!

Lets try GMER.

Download the GMER rootkit scan from here: GMER

1. Unzip it and start GMER.
   
2. Click the >>> tab and then click the Scan button.
   
3. Once done, click the Copy button.
   
4. This will copy the results to your clipboard.
   
5. Paste the results in your next reply.
   

Note:
If you're having problems with running GMER.exe, try it in safe mode. This tools works in safe mode.
You can also try renaming it since some malware blocks GMER.

It is not allowing me to download any exe files nor can I unzip this file by clicking the link. Is there another way for me to unzip it?

Please close all anti virus, anti malware and any other open programs/windows so they do not interfere with the running of RootRepeal.

• Extract the program file to your Desktop.
  
• Run the program RootRepeal.exe and go to the Report tab and click on the Scan button.
  
  
  
• Select ALL of the checkboxes and then click OK and it will start scanning your system.
  
  
• If you have multiple drives you only need to check the C: drive or the one Windows is installed on.
  
• When done, click on Save Report
  
• Save it to the Desktop.

I saved the shortcut to my desktop and closed all the browsers. I click the link, the window pops up; but immediately closes. I am so sorry....I feel so helpless!

It's not your fault, the malware is to blame here. What antivirus are you running?

I am out of state using my brother-in-law's computer. From what I can tell; he doesn't have one running actively. Window's Defender is on here; but that is all that I see in the programs & on the desktop. He's going to kill me, if I don't fix this!!! I think I got it through a virus from Facebook. I know that I sound like a teenager; but I'm not! This is so embarassing!

I tried to download Foxfire and it won't allow me to go past the download here page.
It is absolutely not allowing to download anything...is there anyway I work around this?

This may be a stupid question; but if you email me the zip file do you think that I can open it through winzip directly from my email?

Hello have you tried to download ComboFix or it won't allow you to download it?

That's what I was saying...it won't allow me to download ComboFix, Foxfire, or any of the other files that you have sent to me
