Cannot run dds.scr/system sercurity removal problem

Lets try an online scan.

Please use the Internet Explorer browser, and do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner

Note: If you have used this particular scanner before, you MAY HAVE TO UNINSTALL the program through Add/Remove Programs before downloading the new ActiveX component

Click Accept, when prompted to download and install the program files and database of malware definitions.

• Click Run at the Security prompt.
  
• The program will then begin downloading and installing and will also update the database.
  
• Please be patient as this can take several minutes.
  
• Once the update is complete, click on My Computer under the green Scan bar to the left to start the scan.
  
• Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  
• Do NOT be alarmed by what you see in the report. Many of the finds have likely been quarantined.
  
• Click View scan report at the bottom.
  
• Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply.

• Turn off the real-time scanner of all antivirus or antispyware programs while performing the online scan.

I cannot run either of the dds version from techsupportforum.com. I get that same message. The only way I am able to run any program is in safe mode. I know that is not much help, sorry.

OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer - Version 1.0.11.0 log created on 05142009_143918

I have Spybot-Search and Destroy and it detected the registry change.
"Category: System startup Global Entry, Change: Value Deleted, Entry: 63126089" It asked if I should allow change. I think I accidentally did. Another dialogue box came up for 13106094. I would assume another will come for the other if I go forward with the allowing of the change. Please advise.

Spybot warned you of values being DELETED, that's our attack, allow it to go through.
See if that put a stop to the false alerts.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

The scan looks to have been a success. I have a message from Windows Defender (should I follow that up?), I have Adsgone always looking at pop-ups, and I run Spy-bot search and destroy. The virus RogueVirus2008. Is this the end of the line for the problem? What steps should I take to make sure I don't have a problem again (i.e. should I set up a restore point, work on a backup schedule, etc.)? Thanks for spending the time, it seems to have been a pretty annoying problem. I will definitely giving a donation.

One other question I have is what should I do with all the .exe files on my desktop.

Hello.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
You can reenable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Please make sure Teatimer is disable before we do this, otherwise this fix will fail.

• Open HijackThis
  
• Choose "Do a system scan only"
  
• Check the boxes in front of these lines:

The removal of these programs is optional, but highly recommended.

If Limewire is not removed, then I won't help you.

How is the machine running now?

Everything seems to be running fine. I did remove the Java 2 and it prompted me that it could not remove all files that I would have to remove some manually. I removed Limewire, I don't even think I have used it in more than a couple of years.

Should I delete all of the programs I downloaded for the repair (dds, OTMoveIt3, RootRepeal, GMER, Silentrunners, malwarebytes')?

Also I have a backup file on the desktop containing 3 1KB files, backup-20090514-164859-717, -862, and -936. What should I do with those?

Don't remove Windows Defender, but remove Spybot/Adsgone.
