system security removal problems

I ran the HijackThis, but I had to run it in safe mode because when I downloaded it and tried to run in in regular mode the pop-up came up saying the it "could not be executed because the file was infected." Now I can't even open the notepad because it says that the file is infected. Every program that I try to run other than internet explorer is saying that it is infected. Please help!

Yikes, sounds like Virut is possibly here.

• Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:

• Double click DDS.scr to run
  
• When complete, two logs will open. Save both of the report to your Desktop.
  
• Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.
