I have run AVG free antivirus version 8.5 (4 - 5) times and this win32\cryptor just keeps hanging around. On AVG's 1st scanit found 6 infections all were identified as the cryptor virus. Avg quarintined 3 out of 6. It stated in the scan results that the 3 remaining cryptors were processes. Shortly after i ran a second scan and it found 6 more cryptors when i campared the file extenisons and names from the 1st and 2nd scan they were different, I have looked in the c:\windows\system32 files and the files listed on the scan report are not there or are not visible / hidden. I have also tried the spyware malware program from true sword it was stated that this program works well on this particular virus. True sword found nothing just a few tracking cookies. so far i have not encountered any devasting effects from this infestation of the cryptor bug. So far the only thing i have noticed is that i am not able to use my tune up utilities 2009 program i can access individual tools from that program from the start menu. but if i load it from the desktop it just opens and does nothing. i can not even close the program i click on the close window icon and nothing happens however i am accesss and close it from the task manager. Can anyone out there help me get rid of these little suckers. they are quite annoying to deal with. thanks so much hoping for a savior.

I had to uninstall AVG The number of processes was going crazy and it was majorly slowing my PC down. When i uninstalled it it gave me a wrning message that one file or program would not cease running. I copied it just incase it could be an issue. I also ran a second scan from hijack this. I will post it on this message. I have also tried to install malwarebytes antimalware program but it will not load it shows the process running in the task manager but nothing comes up after i hit run in the installation file.

Hello. As bad and annoying as the alerts are, bad move. Uninstalling your AV has left you wide open, you have no defense right now. DO NOT surf the net right now, it's too dangerous.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: HERE or HERE.

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

Note: This tool was posted specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

2. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Leave the script box empty.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
3. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hello.
I don't recommend products like Mcafee/Norton, or other big names. They seem good because they are big, but when your insalling them, what are they actually installing?

See here:
http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/whats-up-with-mcafee-lately.html

Not done yet, one more scan.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

The message comes back (can not find installer for that program. any idea how to get them off. I was hesitant about forcing them off with an uninstaller that was not windows. ?????? thanks so much for all of your help...

Hello.

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Please install Avira antivirus otherwise you won't be protected.

1) Antivir PersonalEditionClassic
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.

It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Once installed, update the database.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.

  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  • Copy the bolded text below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    :files
    c:\program files\AVG
    c:\windows\sbacknt.bin
    c:\windows\system32\vghd.scr
    c:\program files\DownloadXCtrl.com
    c:\windows\system32\acafb5_z.dll

    :reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{3ca2f312-6f6e-4b53-a66e-4e65e497c8c0}]

    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste instructions for items to be Moved" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the OTMoveIt log.

Download Revo Uninstaller from here:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Install and run it.
When it loads, it shows a list of installed software.
Choose which you want to remove (highlight it by clicking on it), and hit the "uninstall" button at the top bar.

We'll deal with running processes soon.

They aren't AVG, it's Avira.

jusched/sched belong to Java, they are the auto updater.
TUprogramst is TuneUp you installed.

Now we need to make a new restore point.
To turn on System Restore, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the System Restore tab.
3. Click the Turn off System Restore check box (To turn on System Restore), and then click OK.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers. Goofy

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
I also recommand the following add-ons for Firefox, they will help keep you safe from malicious scripts or activeX exploits.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433

4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

To help you keep your software updated, please considering using this free software program that will check for program updates.
Update Checker

5) Finally, consider maintaining a firewall. Some good free firewalls are Kerio, or
Outpost
A tutorial on understanding and using firewalls may be found here.

Please also read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place

If you would take a moment to fill out our feedback form, we would appreciate it.
The link can be found here.

Hopefully this should take care of your problems! Good luck. Big Grin
