Please download and run this tool.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Post the contents of the MBAM Log.

I recommend you remove the Java Quick Starter because it's not needed.
To do so, follow these instructions.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Java.
In the Java control panel, open the click the Advanced tab. Click the + in front of Miscellaneous and uncheck the Java Quick Starter box.

everything seems to be fine now, it hasn't froze yet. after i rebooted i noticed a file that's named "backups", what is that for?

It's a folder, not a file.
It's a backup of the Hijack This fixes we did in the above post in case you want something back on startup.

ok, the laptop still freezes when it goes to idle mode..what could be causing that?

How much RAM does this machine have?

504 MB. there's no pictures on here and only 2 songs.

An empty hardrive has nothing to do with that.
When you put a machine into sleep/idle mode, it uses less power - yes, but, it also shuts off un-needed hardware while in sleep mode. The only thing that stays on is the memory (RAM), that's why it's crashing. You need more RAM, there isn't enough power for it to remember what it was doing.

So that's it. this laptop is pretty much useless from the get go, unless you get more RAM? There's no other way to avoid it freezing up then? Obviously I don't know that much about computers. Which is why I'm consulting you.

Not useless, it just needs more memory and once it has, it will function ALOT better.

ok, I've never bought RAM before. Can you suggest a few websites? And how much RAM I should buy? I just need enough for it to remember where it left off when it goes to stand by. I am editing this post cuz I just realized that my desktop seems to have LESS RAM then this Dell mini Laptop. My desktop has 448 MB. and doesn't freeze or anything in idle mode. The Laptop has 504 MB as I mentioned before. I'm confused!

Play.com sells RAM pretty cheap, go for 2 1gb sticks.

Every machine is different, in theory RAM works alongside the processor.

Your other machine might have less RAM, but a better processor so it's able to do things quicker and less likely to freeze.
