my computer does not want to transmet voice over nay program except windows live

hey, i have a creative hs400 mic, and a built in mic in my computer, and neither of them seem to want to work with any program other than windows live messenger, i have tries ventrilo, team speak, steam, counterstrike, roger wilco, and even WoW's voic e chat, and non of them seem to be transmitting the voice, i don't know if this is a problem with my comp in general or wtf it is... but voice works perfectly fine in great quality over windows live messenger.... wtf is this bullshit? thanks in advance for any help.

Are you using the latest drivers?

Since the mic works in Live Messenger, the microphone functioning properly.

With regards to the other third party software, you may wish to check
with them on the configuration. Alternatively, you may wish to check on
the detection on the computer system from Creative's knowledge based article "no sound from headphones tab" below:
