Now when I acces some sites I get the message below...according to this message I am also concerned that my external hard drive might be infected since it was plugged in all day yesterday. Hello.
Maybe, the guys who made this have changed it slightly, so it may drop more malware, so we need to find out if it has.

  • Please download DDS by sUBs to your Desktop (Important!!) from one of these locations:
    Link 1
    Link 2
    Link 3
  • Double click DDS.scr to run
  • When complete, DDS.txt will open.
  • Click No for Optional Scan.
  • Save the report to your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste DDS.txt back here, I don't need to see attach.txt.

Looks good, what problems remains?

I see you have Viewpoint Manager, this is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". Read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546

Additional info: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_137262.htm

I suggest you remove the program now.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

  • Viewpoint
  • Viewpoint Manager
  • Viewpoint Media Player
  • Viewpoint Toolbar

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [RollerCoasterTycoon.exe] C:\DOWNLO~1\ROLLER~1.EXE /r

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Do you know what this folder is?
C:\DOWNLO~1

A downloaded stuff folder?
There maybe a RollerCoasterTycoon.exe in there that's infected, please delete it.

Other than that, the logs look clean, but I will ask, does this machine have two partitions? a C and D drive?
Please run this.

Please download Flash_Disinfector from HERE

  • First, download it to your desktop.
  • Now double click it to run it and will tell it you what to do when you open it.
  • It will temporarily kill explorer.exe and your desktop will go blank.
  • Let Flash_Disinfector do it's job and it will restart explorer.exe for you.
  • It will make a dummy autorun.inf in the root of every drive.
  • You can now delete Flash_Disinfector.exe.

Lets run a rootkit scan.

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop
Link: HERE or HERE.

  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop

2. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Leave the script box empty.
  • Leave the ticked box "Scan for rootkit" ticked.
  • Then tick "Disable any rootkits found"
  • Now click on the Execute to begin execution of the script.
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.

The Avenger will automatically do the following:

  • It will Restart your computer.
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
3. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Hello.
First, we need to remove the rootkit files, so we need to use the avenger again.
Once the avenger is done, please post a Hijack This log too.

2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
c:\windows\system32\gaopdxskxrmkqa.dll
c:\windows\system32\drivers\gaopdxrsalrvkk.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\gaopdxaknqfwhr.sys
c:\windows\system32\drivers\gaopdxofxwucfo.sys

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.

  • Under "Input script here:", paste in the script from the quote box above.

4. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply.

Please do not forget a new Hijack This log too.

Now a Norton AntiVirus pop up will not go away... it keeps repeating these details:

Object Name: C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\TMP7A.TMP
Virus Name: W32.Tidserv
Action Taken: the file was automatically deleted

THe drop down box gives me the option to renew now or renew later (it expired recently)

I choose renew later but it pops up again right away

Hello.
Probably this infection regenerating that file.
It should stop right after you do this HJT fix.

  • Open HijackThis
  • Choose "Do a system scan only"
  • Check the boxes in front of these lines:

    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EDD5C808-6E71-4986-9163-94BCCF76CD12}: NameServer = 85.255.113.134,85.255.112.104
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.113.134,85.255.112.104
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.113.134,85.255.112.104

  • Press "Fix Checked"
  • Close Hijack This.

Now lets clean the temp files.
Download ATF Cleaner

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.

Is Norton still warning you now?
