I'm looking to buy a new processor for my Presario V5000 labtop. I'm looking for a good one but one that wont kill my wallet.

The current processor I have is a Intel®️ Celeron®️ Processor(1.46 GHz).

So any suggestions?

Also, how would I go about to install a new processor?

PS: Is newegg.com a good place to buy from?

Thanks!

People don't usually change CPUs in their laptop and this is not going to be easy... I'm not sure where to get them from, but if you want to know the process of fixing it in, let me know.

You can get a Core 2 CPU if your motherboard uses the same socket as the Core 2 CPU.

It's just to make the labtop go faster and for Gears of war(you need 2.0GHz+ in order to play).

Yeah, I tried Google'ing it but had no luck... So it would be very nice for you to provide that information. Wink

Can you explain abit more? When I was searching for some, I saw socket that, etc... Don't want to buy something I can't use ><

Before providing the information, are you able to get a laptop CPU? If not we will both be wasting our time lol.

Yup. All I need is the information.

Already bought that RAM for it, now I'm looking for a new CPU Goofy

Ok, all I need to know is the socket on motherboard which the CPU will use. For that, I need you to download CPU-Z.

Run it .
Go to the About tab >> Click Registers Dump >> export the file somewhere, your desktop for example. Copy and pate the contents of the log here.

After saying all this... I just realised that your BIOS won't allow your computer to boot because you are switching CPUs on a OEM computer! Afraid

The log shows that your motherboards uses a Socket 479 mPGA for the CPU.

Here are the 2 CPUs which is supported

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=Socket+479&x=&y=

Let me know what you think. You may have to get a RTM operating system after the upgrade, and a BIOS which allowed your new CPU (which I have no idea how)
