win 32 virut gen

Hi There,
I have recently tried to download paretologic slayerv1.5 of the internet but been a bit lousy and thingk I got this virut malaware. Pc is on xp pro sp3 and wouldn't start properly and cut out as soon as it gets to the desktop. Error code 0000008E and when i have scanned the system on safe mode with nod32 it is finding win32 trojandownloader and with spybot it has found gorkloader. can you help me?????I have looked at the topics and seen about the combo fix as I am trying to do it as I write to you. Will post the details soon,

Can I ask a question.
How do you know it was virut?
Virut - we can't do anything about that, it infects thousands of files and the only way to fix virut is to format, so I need to know how/where was virut located?

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  

Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

ok now on normal mode the pc is running fine but I am still getting the Microsoft Windows Search Filter Host erorr telling me it has encountered a problem and needs to close. Before you it was turning itself off at this stage but it is still turned on and not cut out yet.. Do you know what this is for? It is giving me these 2 below as the cause of this...

The same error screen is back on my face every 3 min intervals this is very annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not quite sure why that is happening, I only ever see the search filter host on Vista machines, not XP.
Will ask a colleague to take a peek here when he gets online.
