I've been using Vista Starter, but am wishing to install XP PRO SP3 on a separate partition of my hard drive.

When I get to the blue setup screen and it asks to to install XP on an existing partition, none of my partitions are listed on the menu. Instead, I get something like this in the menu:

Code:

Unknown Disk
There is no disk in this drive

When I pressed 'c' to create new partition, nothing happened, and when I pressed "enter", I get the BSOD.

Here is the BSOD Technical Information:

Code:

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF75D0CAD, 0xF71937E4, 0x00000000)

*** setupdd.sys - Address F75D0CAD base at F75A4000, Datestamp 4802577

I'm using Compaq Presario C733TU Notebook PC

Any suggestions? Indifferent or Blank

The BSOD shows that the RAM configuration on your computer is not compatible with Windows XP. Do you have more than one RAM modules in your PC?

Also try this for the first error you stated, boot into your BIOS by usually pressing Del at start up >> there is option to enable some SATA performance, now disable it.

I have the same problem, but i can't change this option. In my bios, there is only one option about SATA, but I can only choose between APCI or IDE.
Both don't work. I downloaded an XP from the net, which has something SATA driver, but not working. (bsod)
My notebook is an HP Compaq 615, with original Vista Basic.

Please help me!

thx
