Neh, I doubt this has anything to do with your internet. Your friends can often unknowingly spread malware if they get infected by malware that sends email to their contacts, including you. You should be free from malware since you got yourself checked recently.
So invite all your friends over and get them cleaned. Pun intended!
A free alternative that's popular and works well is SPAMfighter Standard:

A good one to try is ChoiceMail:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2056.htmlIf you are using a free email provider like Windows Live or Yahoo, they have a blocking feature which allows you to block any e-mail address you key in. I guess you are using Yahoo since you previously had a problem with Yahoo Messenger
Here's how to add a block to an email address in Yahoo Messenger: 1. Click Options in the upper-right corner of your Yahoo! Mail page.
2. From the list on the left, click Spam.
3. In the middle of this page, in the space provided in the "Blocked Addresses" section, enter the email address from which you don't want to receive mail.
4. Click Add.
5. The address now appears on your list of blocked addresses.
Yahoo! Mail offers up to 500 blocked email addresses. You can see how many of your blocked addresses you're using beside the list – for example, “4 of 500 used”.
You can also un-block addresses whenever you want.
To remove a block from an address: 1. From the Blocked Addresses list, click the address you wish to remove.
2. Click Remove beside your the Blocked Addresses list.
