The MSO in MSOCache stands for
Micro
Soft
Office.
It is a copy of the Microsoft Office's installation CD. It is there so that you don't have to insert the CD again if you have to perform repairs or add new features.
You can delete the folder, but, that same Microsoft Knowledge base article states:
Never delete the MSOCACHE folder by using Microsoft Windows Explorer.
After you remove the Msocache folder, you may have to provide the installation media to complete the Setup operations that are listed earlier.
They suggest using the They suggest using the
Windows Disk Cleanup Wizard. I don't know why too, but you can access the Windows Disk Cleanup Wizard by following these steps:
1. Click
Start, point to
All Programs, point to
Accessories, point to
System Tools, and then click
Disk Cleanup.
2. In the
Select Drive dialog box, in the
Drives list, click
C:, and then click
OK.
Note: If you have more than one hard disk, the Office setup files will be on the partition that had the most free space during Office Setup.3. Wait for Disk Cleanup to finish checking the drive.
4. In the
Files to Delete list, click to select the
Office Setup Files check box, and then click
OK.
Note: If the size of the Office Setup Files is zero, the Office Setup files are on another hard disk.5. When you receive the following message, click
Yes:
