acer laptop - how to get to system restore from post - not alt 10

Hi
I have tried alt 10 - I have tried F2 & F10 & F8 and F12

I have an Acer ( I think aspire) laptop I got it with windows 8 - it now has windows 10

I can get into the section where there's the blue screen and there's boot - security etc
I need system restore - I cannot get into my laptop - it wont allow me to get past the front screen where it asks for the password - it wont "load" properly and just keeps having the first 2 dots of the password and the screen with bubbles in the back ground- as if it's loading
please speak to me as if I'm a 5 year old regarding this- please don't use wrds that most people here understand
I'm in my 50's - I now a bit about computers but not lots
I have done formatting on my old XP - I now that page is black screen (not blue) and that's the page I'm trying to find- so I can enter system restore.

I am typing from a very VERY slow tablet that I am close to throwing through a window ! It's THAT annoying and slow
please help me
