How to Fix Windows Search Isn’t Finding Your Files

You know a file is there, but it doesn’t show up in a Windows search. This is probably because Search in Windows displays only files it has indexed. You can add files and folders to the index through the Control Panel > Indexing Options.

The Indexing Options will display the list of all the currently indexed drives and folders. If you do not see the correct location, for instance if you have moved your files to another hard disk or partition, click Modify button to add the new location. It will take a while for Windows to add the new files to its index.
