How to Replace Audible Alerts with Visual Alerts in Windows 10

There are many scenarios in which you may find it difficult to hear or easy to miss audible alerts on your PC. You may be working in a busy or noisy environment, or just want some peace and quite.

You can’t set your PC, laptop, or tablet to vibrate like you do with your smartphone. The one options at Ease of Access settings includes an option to use Visual Notifications For Sound in Windows 10.

You can activate a Visual Notifications For Sound feature in the Settings > Ease of Access > Other options. It is a drop-down menu at the bottom of the list.

The first option here is Flash Active Title Bar, which flashes the bar across the top of the window that seeks your attention. This is the most subtle effect and may be easy to miss.

Flash Active Window flashes the entire window that seeks your attention. This is more visible, unless that window is hidden or minimized.

Flash Entire Display is what makes the entire screen flashes for a second to alert you that a notification has arrived, although you then have to go and hunt for it.

It’s worth noting at this point that notifications that do not directly apply to an app but that appear anyway, such as app and Windows Update notifications, always flash the window you’re currently using.
