How to Remove ‘Give access to’ Context Menu Option in Windows 10

In Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, when you right-click on any file/folder in File Explorer, a ‘Give access to’ option appears in the context menu. When you select this option, it expands and displays more options residing under it.

The Windows Fall Creators Update allows you to quickly share files and folders with other users on a network using the "Give access to" option in the right-click context menu.

Using the "Give access to" option, you can easily set network permissions, stop sharing elements. However, if you never use this feature and you feel the menu is getting too cluttered, you can use the Registry to remove it. Moreover, multiple entries of these type in context menu can cause an unusual delay in displaying the menu on the screen.

If you want to remove this item from the context menu, here’s how to do it.

1. Press Windows + R keys to open Run box.

2. Type regedit into Run box and click OK button to open Registry Editor.

3. Browse the following path:

Code:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions

4. Right-click the Shell Extensions key, select New, and click on Key.

6. Select the Blocked key, and right-click on the right side, select New, and click on String Value.

7. Name the new String value as {f81e9010-6ea4-11ce-a7ff-00aa003ca9f6} and press Enter key.

8. Restart your computer.

When right-clicking a folder or a file, you'll no longer see the "Give access to" option.

At any time, you can revert the changes by following the same instructions mentioned above, and delete the {f81e9010-6ea4-11ce-a7ff-00aa003ca9f6} String value. You can also delete the Blocked  key if it didn't exist before and you created it.
