Forum Rules

At GeekPolice, we are dedicated to providing fast, helpful support to the users of our forums. We are striving to follow the closest procedures to ensure quality, and it would help us help you to abide by the following simple principles (found in Terms of Service: "Rules of Use"):

  1. All information and instructions given within this website and forums are to be used at your own risk. By following or using any of this information, you give up the right to hold GeekPolice.net liable for any damages.

  2. Please post what you need in the appropriate forum. If you need support for our products and services, please post it appropriately where it should be. Administrators and Tech Officers have the ability to move, split, lock, unlock, merge, and much more as necessary to ensure you have your posts in the appropriate section where it will have the appropriate help.

  3. Refrain from double posting, we don't always answer in time but we always get around to reading them so be patient. Post in the English Language in all instances on this board unless the staff permits it in unique circumstances. We welcome any form of English: American, British, Australian, English as a Secondary Language, and Simple English.

  4. Do not reply to your own post to bump it up in the list, until after 2 days. Adding more details to the topic is fine, but using the edit button would be better.

  5. The GeekPolice Administration reserves the rights to reassign user names and free up any popular names already used by long term inactive, low post members (If requested).

  6. The posting of any copyrighted material on our web site is strictly prohibited.

  7. Requesting assistance for websites that support illegal content may be denied (at Staff discretion only). Submitting an appeal may only slightly help your situation, as we must, by laws governing worldwide countries, be legally operating. Supporting illegal content is supporting criminals: something we cannot do!

  8. If you believe you have been discriminated against by any member of our staff, please contact an Administrator promptly, and we will discuss the matter privately among our entire staff.

  9. There will be no  use of profanity on our message boards.  This will not be tolerated and can lead to immediate suspension. We usually have filters turned on; however, this also goes for ways to circumvent by using euphemisms or cover-ups (such as $#%@ or some other intent).

  10. When posting, please use proper grammar. Refrain from 'text-speak' style substitutions of words like 'u' for 'you', and 'ur' for 'your'. This is a multi-national website, and some of our non-english speaking members must use translation software which is confused by abbreviations. Most of our volunteer members are very busy helping as many people as they can, and a post that is hard to read will often be overlooked. Please avoid using contractions where possible as well. Some are okay and can be easily translated; others are more difficult. If you have any doubts, then use the full phrase instead of contracting it.

  11. We welcome the use of language symbols, and would love if you use them (example: tildes, operators, carets, inverted characters, et-cetera). If you are afraid they cannot be fully translated, it is helpful of putting the word in brackets after the word that is styled with language symbols.

  12. Spamming is not permitted; please keep all your posts as constructive as possible. Advertising is not allowed either.

  13. There will be no racial, ethnic, gender based insults or any other personal discrimination.  This will not be tolerated and could lead to immediate suspension.

  14. You may not post any content that consists of or contains malware, viruses, political campaigning, commercial solicitations, chain letters, mass mailings, or any form of spam. Copying/reprinting articles, topics and posts from GeekPolice is prohibited. If you wish to do so, contact any of our Administrators and request for further permission. When posting content from another site, credit the site; use quotes and link to original content (unless it is a competing forum, in which case you shouldn’t be posting the content). You should only use shareable links for files that you have the legal right to share with others (for example, documents, photos, software, music, and videos that you personally created). You do not have the right to share files unless you own the copyright in them or have been given permission by the copyright owner to share them. Purchasing or legally acquiring video, music, ebooks, or software does not give you the right to share that material with third parties over the Internet. If you have any doubts about whether you have the legal right to share certain files, you should not share them. Because of the nature of online help we are not able to confirm ownership, and won't have the capacity to help bypass or recover any user passwords, license codes, serial numbers, and so forth.

  15. Do not attempt to moderate other member's post or topics. If you see an inappropriate post, please use the report button.

  16. There will be no posts meant to offend or hurt any other member, in a manner which is offensive or inflammatory. This includes flaming, or instigating of arguments.

  17. This website has the right to request or make alteration or deletion of any offensive content at any time without any prior or written notice.

  18. Links to illegal sites or illegal content will not be permitted.

  19. Members may only have one account on this forum, unless approval from a forum administrator.

See the Terms of Service for more information.

Forum Rules 2757 Violation of any of these rules could lead to an infraction, suspension, or even banning of the user from our forum or website and potentially a deletion of their account. The consequences will be determined by the Staff on specific cases.

Forum Rules 2757 When posting, you agree that the administrators and the moderators of this forum have the right to modify, delete, or close any topic, signature, account, or profile data at any time, without notice, that they see fit.
