Hi Doc! Long time no see Smile...
Listen, i want to install a XP 64 PRo in my machine and need info on how to set it up!
Already running with X86 in my Raid0 C: but i can partition my 120Gb D: to install it.
What would be the best way of doing this?

Tks for your help

Cheers

Hi woodbum.... good to see ya!

Yes mate, make a new logical partition on the 120gig (say about 40 or 50g) and install the 64 bit OS on it.

It will most likely be assigned the drive letter d\: unless you have optical drives or other, in which case it will draw down the alphabetical line.

I would then probably install a new 'physical' drive and place all my important data on that (ie music, pics, vid's, software apps etc) and run the two OS's in dual boot from the 120g drive only.

This way, a format wont be a problem while you experiment, as all the good stuff is safely tucked away.

Good Luck!

Thats ok....your raid config will default the newly installed drive to be set up as 'dynamic' which allows you to do Software RAID (RAID 1 mirroring or RAID 0 striping).

Just dont run the OS's from the dynamic drive and only keep your important data on it because if you upgrade to a Dynamic disk, you won't be able to boot into previous versions of Windows already installed.

Awesome (sparkly)

Tks Digitalocksmith!
Tho, i still have an issue!!!
On my motherboard "asus p5w64 PRO", there is 2 different space to plug up to for Sata.
One is for main Sata (where my Raid0 is plug) and the other ones are called "Extra" in wich i pluged my backup HD and the new HD that i formatted (in non dynamic after reading on Microsoft page and bla bla bla) so,
when i tried to install Vista 64 bit in it from the boot, the HD was not found by it!?
And on the other side, when i plugged the HD in the main where my Raid is plugged, the boot doesn't start at all and then freezes?! Let me think

Tks bud, need some more info on this
