ms removal tool

I have tried to follow the directions to remove this malware but when I try to boot in safe mode by hitting f8 i only get 2 options, Vista boot (I have xp) and memory diagnostics. When I try to do the msconfig option to get into safe mode and click Start, Run, the run function doesn't work, everything says it's infected and won't run. What other options do I have?

Thanks. I ended up taking this problem to a computer specialist and they were able to remove the virus without much damage. I appreciate this site and will use in the future.
