cannot renew ip address

Hi my daughters wireless computer cannot connect to the net whilst all other family computers can using the same Netgear router. Signal strength is excellent.
Tried to renew using windows which gave error message reading that it cant connect to dhcp server.
Device Manager showed no problems.
Ran ipconfig
Physical address 00-1B-2F-AB-33-3A
DHCP enabled
auto config enabled
Auto config IP address 169.254.20.218
Subnet mask 255.255.0.0
No default gateway

Can you hlp please?

It may be that you have a password on your wireless network.

Before tackling the wireless issue, please verify that it can connect to the router using an Ethernet cable.

Note: I am not a tech here, only a user offering an opinion.

I have not been asked for a pass word so dont think that is the issue. Thanks. HAve trwled the net and found others with same problems but few solutions - can I have a tech answer please?

Hi, did you tried to put "Obtain an IP address automatically" on that computer ? It looks like internet connection is not well configured. You should check it again, or maybe just resetting your router might solve all problems.
