Computer fails to startup

Computer fails to startup22nd February 2011, 8:53 pm

Computer was on at night, next morning it was starting up over & over. After the XP screen it powers off & tries to start up a again. Can't get to safe mode.

Hi there,

Do you see a Blue screen ? Or it just random reboot ? See if you there is Overheat generated in your CPU. Open the side side panel and check it.

Cleaned back & inside case. Dust on outside back of fans, not to bad inside.
Here are the screens that cycle repeatedly, 1. Gateway - bios settings F2 - boot menu F10. 2. Press F11 to start recovery 3. MS windows XP 4. No signal. This series of screens go over & over.

Seems like the XP might have damaged. Try to run a Repair Install see if that fixes it. If not then do a Clean Install. You could use this http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd to backup your data.

is there any way to get to safe mode from this condition?

Run a Repair Install. It should get you in and it won't delete any data
